American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) is an innovative medical school dedicated to providing a learner-centric education of the highest quality, granting opportunities to underrepresented minorities, fostering a diverse academic community, and ensuring that its graduates develop the skills and attitudes of lifelong learning, compassion, and professionalism. We also provide students who would otherwise be unable to receive a medical education with the opportunity to become successful physicians.
AUA’s medical education satisfies the medical school requirements for licensure to practice medicine in all 50 US states. AUA graduates who meet the qualifications for licensure in countries outside the US, such as Canada, India, or the United Kingdom, may also be licensed in those countries.

My Experience at AUA:
Graduating from UC Davis at 19 years old, Dr. Brenda Mai began applying to different medical schools in California but unfortunately wasn’t accepted into any. Unfortunately, her age was a concern as she would be 19 years old and schools felt she would be below the curb and lack the maturity to attend medical school. AUA accepted her based on her motivation and enthusiasm to be a doctor, as it was clear she wanted to be a physician but didn’t quite meet U.S. requirements to get into those programs. Dr. Mai is currently in the clinical pathology program in the University of Texas in Houston.

“I chose AUA for my medical education because it was a place that gave people an opportunity to accomplish their educational goals. We had classes with great professors/doctors who were passionate about teaching us the basic information required for us to be able to to advance into clinical practice. The educators were approachable and were willing to spend extra time explaining information at time of need for further clarification. As we transitioned to clinical medicine back in the United States, there was a vast variety of clinical sites that we were able to do our clinical rotations in. The administration was helpful in scheduling the rotations and would always try to accommodate our preferences for the rotations. I am grateful to AUA for teaching me what I needed in order to be a practicing pediatrician today.”
